A popular tourist destination, Thailand has something for everyone, from 5-star luxury seekers to packers. It is a land of fascinating history, fascinating landscapes, ancient temples and a long history of Buddhism. With palm-fringed beaches, sweet white sands, lush beaches and beautiful islands, it is a place to relax and let the fresh air wash over you.
Phuket
Probably one of the most famous Thai places after Bangkok, Phuket was known as far back as 1974 when it appeared in Bond’s film, ‘Man with the Golden Gun’. In Phuket, you can experience the hedonistic life as you relax for miles and miles of soft sandy beaches in the glistening waters of the aquamarine Andaman Sea. It is a great place to try water sports or just eat and drink at the many restaurants and bars along with the sand.
Maya Bay
Another popular seaside on the big screen, Maya Bay played a key role in the 2000 film ‘The Beach’ starring Leonardo di Caprio. Beautiful white sand surrounded by coral reefs and limestone stones; proved to be a very good place even though the land arrangements made by Fox Productions did not appeal to filmmakers to the local people. It seems that nature has now restored its birthright, the 2004 tsunami eroding Fox’s landscape and restoring it to its natural state.
Kanchanaburi
A major tourist destination, Kanchanaburi is home to some waterfalls, forests, rivers, and caves dating back to the Neolithic period. It is a leading outdoor adventure park with all kinds of activities available from rafting, boating and fishing to golf, mountain biking and bird watching. There is even a trek into the dense jungle looking for elephants for those of you who love the extra trek in your life. But if this seems like hard work just relaxes on the beautiful white-sand beaches.
Phi Phi Don
Hindus, Buddhists, and sea gypsies coexist peacefully in this hedonistic paradise where undisturbed beaches, clear emerald beaches, and craggy cliffs form a natural habitat. Koh Phi Phi, like most islands, can only be reached by sea in one of the longest colourful valleys and once you are there, you will find that there are no roads and no cars in this peaceful and tranquil area. In fact, the hardest thing you will have to do here is lift up your cocktail glass or maybe train a few dogs that go down during a yoga session on clean beaches.
Haad Rin, Koh Pha Ngan
If you find all of this relaxing talk very focused on what you like and you can choose somewhere with a party spirit and head to Haad Rin, a beach that is more famous for its Full Moon parties than its natural attractions. That is not to say that it is not beautiful, it still has the golden sands needed, the water clear but also has a living vibe that lasts all day until late at night.
